Our mission at Rothwell Arts is to provide students of all levels with more than just dance classes, but a unique experience in which the student can grow both mentally and physically as a dancer. Here are some statistics that you may not know about our Borough.
Blackburn with Darwen is the 15th most deprived borough in England.
On the local Children in Low Income Families Local Measure, 9105 children in Blackburn with Darwen, or 22.5% of the total, were ‘in poverty’ in 2013. In some areas this figure is higher – 40% of children in parts of Sudell.
Reports identify Blackburn with Darwen as one of the most inactive local authorities in England with 36.95% of adults classified as physically inactive. The report also estimates that this level of inactivity per 100,000 people costs the borough £24,225,029.
We know that dance can make a huge impact on someones life. Confidence, self-belief, teamwork, friendship and achievement are just some of the ways that dance can influence an individual. We believe that if we can change one person’s life we will have made a difference.

Adults: Dance can reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes and chronic heart disease and help maintain a healthy weight. It can also reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Older People: Dance is a social activity that helps maintain cognitive function, reduces cardiovascular risk and risk of falls.
